Schimmel Uprights:
Powerful vertical design and scaling —
with the heart and soul of a grand piano.
The power of innovation is obvious from the first few notes when you sit down to a Schimmel Upright piano — the upright piano that gives “compromise” new meaning when space is an issue.
Schimmel makes several high performance upright pianos adaptable for home, teaching studio, school, church, or professional use. A wide range of styles and cabinet finishes are available — some in Art Nouveau, Traditional, Modern, and Noblesse cabinets — made of exotic woods, with hand detailing.
The flagship upright piano to end all comparisons is found in Schimmel’s Konzert Upright Model. The concept of building a “concert quality” piano in a vertical design might be a puzzlement to advanced pianists and critics — perhaps, even an impossibility — until you put a Konzert Upright Model through its paces.
Outside the concert hall, numerous pianists are forced to practice on an upright instrument. This fact led Schimmel designers to develop the Konzert Upright Piano Line ― employing the essential elements of German grand piano construction to virtually deliver a “grand piano” in an upright cabinet.
Distinctive characteristics of Schimmel’s unique Konzert Upright Piano Line include: 1) the graded capotaster, manufactured from solid brass, which ensures the exact and identical string length in the bi-chord bass notes — also guaranteeing a harmonically warm tone; 2) the Triplex Scale assures rich tonal colors and extends the speaking lengths of strings ― also found on Schimmel grand pianos; 3) solid mountain spruce back posts for high stability and tonal strengthening, through its ideal mass distribution; and 4) CAPE-optimized action (Computer Assisted Piano Engineering) to permit an almost identical repetition speed to that of a grand piano action.
Whether playing the inventions and sinfonias of Johann Sebastian Bach and executing precise mordents, turns, and trills of the Baroque era . . . to negotiating the mercurial pianistic textures and harmonic nuances of other composers, from Ludwig van Beethoven to Claude Debussy; or playing the transcriptions of solo piano pieces by Art Tatum or Bill Evans . . . Schimmel Upright pianos embody the essential performance and tonal characteristics of a fine grand piano.
Experiencing a Schimmel Upright Piano for yourself is believing.
